Sugar Cookies

I know I haven’t posted in a while, but last month I got pretty busy with It’s Pretty on Paper, which I’m SO excited about!! Head on over there and check it out (and tell your friends to check it out too)! Now, onto the recipe… Last night Ryan was in a sweets mood and requested homemade warm, gooey cookies. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any chocolate chips on hand (what is wrong with me?!) and had to settle for sugar cookies. I found this recipe on AllRecipes and it was as simple as it says. Hope you enjoy when you get a sweet tooth or go to your next cookie swap! 🙂

what you’ll need:

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

how you’ll do it:

preheat your oven to 375*
soften your butter if it isn’t already (microwave for about 30 seconds)
mix flour, baking powder, and baking soda in a medium bowl
(all my bowls are in the dish washer so my 4 cup measuring cup was a stand in)

next, mix your sugar and butter in your kitchenaid mixer until smooth

add egg and vanilla and mix until smooth again

slowly add flour mixture

the dough will start to get stiff

next, form cookies in your *wet* palms (or the dough will stick to you) and place on ungreased cookie sheet

cook for 6-10 minutes depending on your oven and the size of your cookies

enjoy warm with a glass of cold milk!
